Volunteer Opportunities
B'nai Havurah thrives on its member volunteers. We have a longstanding history of members being actively involved in every aspect of congregational life, including governance, Shabbat, and High Holy Days services, religious education, committees, fundraising, and community involvement. This is what has made B'nai Havurah a unique congregation in the Denver area!
See below the many committees and activities available for you to get involved in B'nai Havurah's life.
Speak with our Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Hannah about how you can get connected to our community through volunteering, helping to run programs, lend your talent, and more. You can reach them at engagement@bnaihavurah.org. You can also schedule a coffee chat with them by going to this link.

Engage in the B'nai Havurah committees! Pick what interests you and get involved. Active participation in the B'nai Havurah committees is personally rewarding and the lifeblood of our community.
Inclusivity: This committee's mission is to guide and support the congregation as it moves towards the inclusion of members of all abilities and challenges.
Membership and Marketing: Help B'nai Havurah grow! Join the Membership Committee to help us to welcome new members and provide outreach to prospective members.
Chesed: As a community, we are committed to “gemilut chesidim,” doing kind things for others in small and large ways. Help us support members of our community in need of support.
Tikkun Olam: Help us with the mitzvah to “repair the world”. We fund grants to groups that provide services within our congregation and in the greater community.
Adult Education: We develop and plan courses, lecture programs, and Scholar-in-Residence weekends. Bring your knowledge and expertise to this committee.
Shabbat & Ritual Committee and Holiday Committee: This committee works with our staff to plan Shabbat and other holidays throughout the year.
Youth and Family Engagement Committee: Along with the Youth and Family Community Organizer, this committee lends their advice and ideas to improving engagement with young people, kids, and families with younger children.
Other Committees: Budget and Finance, Facility Task Force, Fundraising Committee, and Information Technology - If you have an interest or a background in any of these fields, we more than welcome your expertise.
Please contact our office at 303-388-4441 or email office@bnaihavurah if you would like to learn more about the committees listed.
Active Volunteer Needs
In addition to the many volunteer opportunities above, we also often have additional need for volunteers to serve in various roles.
This list is actively updated with volunteer requests. If you are interested in helping with one of the volunteer roles, please fill out the form and Hannah will be in touch with you.
Volunteer Needs:
1. The Chesed group is looking to expand our team. We especially have the need in the shiva/funeral group which gathers to support those experiencing very difficult times in their lives as a result of the death of a loved one. We are looking for people with big hearts and good intentions (in other words, someone just like you). There is a need for occasional emergency set-up and clean up of shiva services and coordination of meals of condolence for grieving families. This is a very rewarding volunteer opportunity that offers defined and episodic ways for you to help.
(On-going volunteer role, opportunities for in person and virtual participation, hours/dates vary)
2. The B'nai Havurah team is in need of reliable volunteers to help staff the front office when we are open- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We have had a few dedicated volunteers working once a week in this role, and it would be great to give them some time off! This role is great for a member who is reliable, comfortable using email and the B'nai website, friendly, and is eager to learn.
(On-going volunteer role, in person participation, hours are 9-2 once a week on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)
3. The B'nai Havurah team is in need of some volunteers to help with various roles related to the High Holy Days- from greeting people, to helping set up food, torah chanting, and more. The High Holy Days are a huge production for a small team like ours, and volunteers are part of what makes it possible!
(Seasonal volunteer role, in person participation, hours/dates vary)
4. The B'nai Havurah team is in need of some technologically capable volunteers to learn how to run the Zoom during events such as services and community meetings. Offering Zoom is a crucial way that we make our congregation more accessible and inclusive, and running the Zoom is a great way to help facilitate that. All volunteers will be trained by an IT professional (thanks Dan!) and will use their new skills when needed.
(On-going volunteer role, opportunities for mostly in person and occasional virtual participation, hours/dates vary)
